Bolero de concert, Op.166 – Louis Lefébure-Wély

This Bolero features a highly repetitive rhythm which forms the basis of the entire piece. It was published in 1865 as a harmonium or organ piece (without pedal) but it can certainly be adapted to use pedal which I have done here. The modulation to the parallel major almost turns the piece into a little circus carnival piece before returning to the original theme. Nevertheless, it’s a great concert piece which I will be playing in recital very soon. I recorded this on the St. Mary-le-Bow sample set (Lavender Audio) with Hauptwerk.
