ELEGY ON EVENTIDE (in memory of Queen Elizabeth II) – Phil Lehenbauer

As this video is made public on YouTube, the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is taking place. As a tribute to her reign my friend, Phil Lehenbauer, composed this beautiful cortege and elegy on the EVENTIDE hymn tune. The pedal repeated notes emulate the sombre beat of the bass drum in military bands. As Phil states “while the work is sombre at the beginning, it ends with hopeful glory in heaven”. I hope you enjoy my tribute to QEII. I recorded this at St. Matthew’s, Albury (Australia). Organ specification: https://www.ohta.org.au/organs/organs/AlburyStMatts.html
