MELODIC MASTERY: George Green’s “Voluntary V” for organ

Uncover the hidden hems of 18th century English organ music with George Green’s 5th Voluntary in E-flat Major. This delightful piece, part of Green’s Six Voluntaries, is a typical example of organ music for manuals only, perfect for church or recital use. As with music of this period, the opening movement is a slow introductory section, before being swept away by the lively Allegro movement. Despite little being known about the composer, Green’s musical genius shines through in this magnificent composition. I recorded this on the Sankt Arnual sample set with Hauptwerk by @user-bm9zx3zl2p (Forest Pipes).
