Missa de Angelis Meditations, Op. 232 – Vidas Pinkevicius

These four organ meditations were inspired by the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei components of the Gregorian chant “Missa de Angelis”. This musical collection is essentially modal, with occasional departures, thereby accentuating the inherent mode of the Mass. Although these compositions originated from Vidas’ improvisations, they are not mere transcriptions, yet the overall concept and structure retain the essence of the improvised versions found on Vidas’ video here for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzNHHHIwhg0. These meditations offer flexibility, suitable for even modestly sized organs, and cater to liturgical needs whenever there’s a demand for introspective music. This work is dedicated to @RienSchalkwijk.

I recorded this on the Hauptwerk sample set of Rotterdam (main organ) by Sonus Paradisi.

Kyrie: 0:00
