Organ music for Halloween

Halloween isn’t a big event down here in Australia. I’ve experienced one ‘real’ Halloween when I did a semester abroad at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 2007. I did enjoy the activities that pertained to the American university culture at the time. Down under, Halloween is more commonly associated with a time of year for Christians, that being All Saints’ day and All Souls’ day. For All Saints’, we celebrate the honour of all saints in the church and All Souls’ we remember and pray for those that have died before us—especially those that are in purgatory. The short collection of music I’ve compiled for you relates to these two days.

Programme:

For All the Saints (SINE NOMINE) | Swell Vox (https://swellvox.com)
Shall We Gather at the River (HANSON PLACE) – James Mansfield
For All the Saints (SINE NOMINE) – James Mansfield
I Sing a Song of the Saints of God (GRAND ISLE) – Lani Smith
Libera me (from Requiem) – Gabriel Faure arr. Smith
Toccata in B minor – Eugene Gigout
