Prélude Mélancolique – Graham Twist | Hauptwerk Nancy

The last Graham Twist piece I recorded was “Nursery Outing” and this piece is just that little bit more serious. Originally titled ‘Prière’, it was originally submitted for entry into Tim Knight’s Organ Music for Solemn Occasions competition. The piece was not selected for publication but it gave Graham a chance to rework it and extending it beyond the time limits that it previously had to be. The work is “in remembrance” for the sadness we feel for those that are no longer with us. Ending in the major key signifies that hope and love will always conquer despair and loss! I recorded this on the Nancy Cathedral sample set by Piotr Grabowski using the Hauptwerk VPO software.
