Suite Gothique – TOCCATA – Léon Boëllmann

The Boëllmann Toccata from Suite Gothique is undoubtedly the most famous work by this French romantic composer. The suite in its entirety makes for a great recital inclusion! As separate movements they are also very useful in liturgical situations, especially the beautiful Priere A Notre-dame. I don’t think I have to convince anyone that this Toccata makes for an excellent postlude but some may think it’s a bit too spooky? Let me know what you think. I recorded this on the Caen sample set (with extension), sampled by Sonus Paradisi.
