Hello and welcome to Swell Vox’s first anniversary recital! It’s my great pleasure to present this music with you! It has definitely felt much longer than a year—probably because we are constantly working away in the background and having a lot of fun in the process. What seems like many years ago, I was in a choir called the “Schola Cantorum”. Andrew, David and Tony were in this group many moons ago (when they were babies) and it came to a natural end around 2016. It was always my intention to form and start something new but I wanted it to happen without forcing it. 2020 is a year nobody will forget and I won’t forget for good reasons! The pandemic unfortunately grounded everyone, which also included David and Tony who had to study from home. I invited them out one day to make music for “old time’s sake” and record it. Well…the rest was history. Andrew got FOMO and he soon jumped on the bandwagon. I only turned up for the prospect of having a nice feed afterwards. Skipping forward to late 2020 and into 2021, we added Tom Summerfield into the fold and have collaborated with, what I call, “extended Swell Vox family and friends”. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of Swell Vox and I dare say, there will be some regular new faces and offical new members.
